I teach eight grade mathematics. My classroom consists of a diverse group of students including many English Language Learner students who benefit from the modeling of organization and colorful note-making.
I value giving my students authentic experiences to better understand mathematics and work on improving their basic skills and confidence on a daily basis.
I look forward to building success with my students through mathematical engagement and building their STEM background through organizational tools.
Giving my English Language Learner students the opportunity to organize their learning experience will give them confidence for their future.
My Project
I teach on a team with three other teachers and together, we share lesson plans and lesson resources. We would be grateful to have colorful pocket folders to help teach students about organization that will build their mathematical knowledge to be successful towards STEM goals.
This project will enable me to better reach my students and help them develop their understanding of mathematics while also improving their organizational skills.
Having a simple place to turn to for resources to build knowledge will increase confidence and tools to build their future in a STEM world.
Math is a scary subject and language to my English Language Learners, but teaching them how to keep items in the same location and easy to find, will get rid of that feeling of "I cannot do this."
