Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our seventh-grade science classroom is a place of challenge, discovery, and enthusiasm. My young scientists come from a low-income/high-poverty neighborhood, but their positivity and determination in the classroom every day is nearly unfailing. They have an amazing desire for education and they work hard to build each other up and do their best.
This year we'll learn how to think about science, instead of what to think.
I know this critical-thinking-focused curriculum will benefit my students for the rest of their lives.
My Project
Providing students with the basic tools for school success helps us all to focus on the important learning that happens in classrooms! Because our students come from a high-poverty area, we aim to provide them with all the materials they need to succeed in school - that way, no one has to stress about buying school supplies instead of other vital items.
Middle school is an important time to help students develop organizational and study skills that will serve them for the rest of their academic career - we provide all students in our building with binders, planners, and pencil pouches to help get them started with strategies to make them successful!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
