This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very bright and eager-to-learn kindergartners who attend a public school in the heart of the city of Chicago in the Humboldt Park area. All of the students receive free lunch, and our school district is making record-breaking and heartbreaking cuts to the budget. The students are truly suffering. The majority of students in our school are below grade level and also below poverty level. They come from homes where education is not always a priority, but they come to school ready and eager to dive right in and learn.

My Project

An organized classroom is one of the key factors for success. Students need to feel welcomed in a warm classroom. Our students need bins for their math manipulatives so that they are easily accessible and clearly labeled for their use.

Center organization is also key to helping run a smooth classroom.

The drawer cart will allow all centers to be in one centralized place and easy to set up and clean up. This will make transitioning from centers run a lot smoother and they will definitely add a pop of color to my classroom.

The last organizational cart will help make my whole group work area run smoother by allowing me to have all materials needed for the lesson there, ready, and organized.
