I teach computer literacy in a rural school in southeast Louisiana that serves children in prekindergarten through second grade.

These kids are amazing. I admit they surprise me daily with what they can do and what they aspire to be in the future. They work hard and do everything they can to make our classroom a wonderful place to be.

My Project

We are so excited to get brand new computers. The graphics on our old computer limited us when we tried to accomplish more advanced lessons such as 3D drafting. To keep our computer lab neat, I am requesting 3M hooks for the students to hang their headphones on the side on the computer monitors. Each student has an assigned computer in the classroom. I find this helps students to take ownership in the computer and they work harder to keep them cleaned. To identify which computer is theirs, I have requested calendars to tape to the top of the monitors. Finally, I have requested cleaner to keep our monitors clean. Kids get excited and point to their work marking the screen with finger smudges. This cleaner will help them keep their computers cleaner.

I truly believe that a minute spent organizing saves time. I have seen the tangled mess of headphones and have spent too much time untangling them. I have watched the kids roam up and down the aisles lost when they cannot remember exactly where they sit. These hooks and numbers will help with that chaos. The cleaner will help us to keep our property looking like new. Thank you for your consideration.
