This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are 21st-century learners with the most unique and individual personalities that light up the classroom with their smiles and laughter. They enjoy working with hands-on activities and working with their peers on a daily basis. But a large percentage of my class has considerable economic needs - most of my students live in apartment complexes within walking distance of their school and more than three-fourths of the class receive free or reduced lunches. Furthermore, most of these students enrolled are Title 1 students and are English Language Learners.

Nonetheless, these unique and passionate students come to school each and every day ready to learn despite some of their everyday struggles.

My Project

Currently, due to COVID, all my student's desks are placed and distanced according to school protocols leaving little walking room in the classroom. This currently makes it challenging for students to get into backpacks and desks throughout the school day. At the moment, most of our daily school supplies stay on top of our desks for quick access during transition time but this leaves little to no room on student desks.

Having this mobile organization station and turn-in station will allow my students to have easy access and a "home" for all their daily school supplies.

My students will be able to easily access their individual bins for their materials for all our core subjects and small groups.

Furthermore, these carts will teach my students to have good organization skills. They will be responsible for keeping their bins neat and organized so that transition time will run smoothly within our school day. Not only will this save us valuable class time but having good organizational skills also makes it easier to collaborate with others and helps increase productivity and efficiency.

Lastly, the giant timer will help my students keep track of the time during transition time as well as during small group rotations throughout the school day.
