Hello! I am a first grade teacher at Lee Hunter Elementary in Sikeston, MO. I am all about keeping things organized for my students. To help me accomplish this goal I am asking you to donate to my project so that we all have uniform supplies and folders to make learning easier. When everyone has the same supplies nobody feels left out. It doesn't matter if you have the means to bring in supplies or not from home every child will be presented the exact same supplies. By doing this I am able to cut down on behavior problems. I am not putting families into a financial strain, and I am making things so easy for anyone to come in and teach my classroom.
I love providing various ways for my students to learn.
The following items are a must need to start each school year.
~The crayon boxes are very sturdy and last all year to house their 24 packs of crayons.
~The colored folders are used to differentiate each subject. Gray will be Writing, Black will be ELA, and Blue will be Math.
~The colored cardstock is used for anchor charts, student projects, and more. I have always loved giving students a lot of colorful options in first grade to display their writing on.
~Writing is a very important skill in 1st grade. The students love to write and illustrate their stories. I feel that it is important to write in a place in the room that is comfortable for each child which is why it is so important for each child to have their own clipboard to write on. I have also done a lot of research on writing in the 1st grade. For young students to become better writers they need to create detailed illustrations.
