My 3-5 grade students try their best to stay focused in class everyday. All 13 students are eager learners but unfortunately due to circumstances beyond their control, they have trouble focusing and staying organized.
Over 95% of my students come from low-income families and qualify for free lunch.
Our school is located in a quiet, working class neighborhood in an urban setting. Many of my students go home and do not have a lot of support from their parents or guardians at home. Therefore, most of my students do not have outside learning opportunities when not at school.
My 3-5 grade students will be taking on the world of AVID this year and we couldn’t be more excited. The best part about this is my students are one of the first special education rooms in our district to engage in this awesome program. I am a firm believer that every student can be successful, regardless of their disability, if given the necessary tools.
I want my students to be successful from the beginning so to be able to do this we need the appropriate supplies.
Since our first goal is organization, we are in desperate need of the binders and accessories to make this happen. We are asking for 3-ring, zippered binders with tab dividers to help the students organize their work by subject. This binder will also include resources that will be easily accessible to help them study. Finally, we have included zippered pencil pouches so that they have quick access to a writing utensil or highlighter. All of these items are part of the AVID program to ensure organizational success. Let’s give them a head start on preparing them for college by showing your support through a donation to our project!!!!
