Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work in a specialized prekindergarten classroom with students of various ages and disabilities. Each of them come to school with diverse backgrounds including family structure and languages spoken. What they do have in common is that when they enter my classroom, I am their very first teacher and this school year will be there first ever school experience.
What is important to understand is that students with special needs do not always respond to conventional teaching styles and aids, thus educators need to harness methods and resources which cater to their individual manner of understanding and learning.
Large baskets, which are soft, will not only provide a space for storing large items such as our weighted pillows but are safe for those unsteady on their feet. Clear durable storage bins will be tough to withstand little hands pulling and tugging on them but are clear to provide students the opportunity to see what they want to play with. Small star baskets will keep the learning materials in one place a the organization bin for art will keep their materials in one spot for art.
