My Project
I’m requesting new baskets for my special education 5th grade classroom in East Harlem. I’ve worked at my school as a special educator for 22 years and needless to say, some of the basic materials in my classroom have not aged well! My kids keep telling me that their book bins are breaking, scratching them, or are just plain worn out. In addition to using the bins and baskets for books, we use them to organize math materials like calculators and fraction blocks. The larger baskets allow us to keep our various notebooks organized by subject and generally keep our classroom looking neat.
I believe a neatly organized, calm and clean environment is necessary for optimal learning to take place.
I sometimes even use baskets as a visual representation of how to organize and classify information in our brains. Most teachers agree that baskets are one of the most needed and utilized basic classroom supplies.
Thank you in advance for helping replace our worn-out supply baskets with these beautiful and sturdy Lakeshore ones! My students have special needs but they also have special talents, skills, intellect and endless potential —they deserve the best. This is just one small way to improve their learning environment and help me keep materials neatly organized so they last for another 20 years!
