This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in a low-income school with 21 bright, smiling 2nd graders. My students are as diverse as they are amazing. I have students who are new to our country, students who don't speak English at home, students who only speak English, and students who are gifted and talented.

We are an inclusive classroom that celebrates our diversity and our difference.

The majority of my students are English Language Learners who have very little English support outside of school. My goal is to make every student feel like they can and will reach whatever they set their mind to.

My Project

Part of teaching young children is teaching them to be organized. I want my students to be able to have their own book box to keep and store books on their own reading level. Students will also be able to keep reading material that is on and about the topic we happen to be learning that week. This will help my students stay organized and it will also help keep the books in nice condition.

Students learn from great examples.

I want to show my students how to stay organized while we are learning about different reading topics. A pocket chart will allow me to organize our word/letter/skill cards in a simple, student-friendly way. Students will be able to easily view and reference our word/letters/skills just by looking back at the pocket chart.
