Organization Is Key To Classroom Success

My students need Iris 51-quart stacking drawers, and mDesign desk organizers to put our vocational materials away in an orderly fashion so that they can find what they need quickly and without help.

My Students

I teach 18 22-year-old young adults with a variety of intellectual, physical, and sensory impairments in our high school's Transition Program. My students are focusing their time in school on preparing for life after high school; that looks different for every student. We work with each student individually to help them communicate their personal goals and visions for their futures.

My students are looking forward to being as independent as possible after high school.

All of my students participate in internships and jobs around our school building and in the community as part of their education. We also practice interviewing skills, job applications, cooking, cleaning, money, time, and functional writing skills.

Most of my students are looking forward to moving out of their parents' home, working, and being involved in their community when they finish school. Others are looking to continue their education in a college or vocational/trade training program.

My Project

My students use a lot of manipulatives and activities with many pieces and small parts throughout the school day. Because students in my room have a wide variety of disabilities, many do not learn well using paper and pencil activities. They need to do it to learn it.

A classroom full of hands-on activities is fantastic for teaching students with disabilities, but they have nowhere to put them away currently.

Our cabinets are full of student-specific supplies, such as feeding equipment, adaptive equipment, etc. Many of our learning activities are all over the counters and tables in the classroom.

A cluttered classroom is distracting for students and makes it difficult for them to find what they need without help. Please help us get organized with these organizer drawers and caddy and clean up our act!
