Organization Improves Learning

My students need a storage cart, cart with caddy, privacy screens and a task chair to organize the classroom for an improved learning environment.

My Students

My students are, without a doubt, challenged. Many are economically disadvantaged with little parental support. Some struggle with emotional needs. Most have been displaced at some level by the flood following Hurricane Harvey. Even my honor students struggle with stability in the chaos of the aftermath.

My students need to reach their full potential, and I want to be a part.

They are weary and unmotivated due to the stresses of "life after Hurricane Harvey." Many are ill due to exposure to poor and dangerous living conditions. School is a safe haven for many of my kids.

They deserve something GOOD!

My Project

Due to the chaos of classroom and student displacement after Hurricane Harvey, many teachers have had to give up their regular classrooms and teach in unfamiliar territory. My regular classroom is being utilized by another teacher who is new to our district and had no teaching materials nor student supplies. The portable cart file with caddy I am requesting will allow me to transport my teaching materials more easily during our displacement. The use of the organizer with hanging drawer and the storage cart with drawers will help provide a more stable learning environment for the students in our temporary place. When supplies and materials are scattered over multiple spaces in more than one room, it’s difficult to keep up with papers, curriculum, and lesson plans. The screen dividers will help with privacy as my students take tests or write in journals. The task chair will provide secure seating and the posters will provide motivational and interpersonal strategies for students. When teachers are organized, preparation can be successfully made.
