it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students love learning. They come in every morning with smiles on their faces, full of enthusiasm about what the day in front of them holds. The most significant thing about them is how much they love their school. We are part of a school community where the school is new and growing each and every year. The school we are a part of started a little over seven years ago and we are still growing. Our students love being a part of a newer school and helping to grow the community. They wear their school polo shirts with honor, and they love being a part of our community.
As wonderful as our school is because it is new and growing each year, it is extremely limited in its resources.
Something that we are working very hard to build is our classroom library. There is nothing more exciting to my students than getting their hands on good books. We have grown our library so much over the years and our students finally have so many choices. We have books at their level so they feel successful, we have fiction, we have nonfiction, we have book series, and we have topic bins. They finally can get their hands on books that they truly love. The problem is we have nowhere to put all of these great books. The library we have is full of books, but it is so boring and uninviting. Even though it has books, it feels empty. Brightly colored book bins would really change the appearance of the library. It would invite my students in and help them grab the books they need to succeed. Each color would represent a different genre, a different series, and a different level. It would make book shopping successful and fun!
