This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a Title I school, located near the US- Mexico border, with an increasing number of students who are economically disadvantaged. My students are young adults who strive to be the best in all areas, both inside and outside of school. Because of their unique ways of learning, it is essential to have a variety of teaching tools to ignite curiosity and help develop a love and passion for reading. I want my students to enjoy reading just as much as I do. I want to create readers that value literature, create witty analyses and offer new insights. My students are eager learners and deserve the opportunity to prepare themselves for the future by exposure to supplemental texts to increase their reading and comprehension skills. If funded, you will not only be helping students increase reading and comprehension skills, but instilling literacy skills that will follow them all of their academic careers.

My Project

Interactive notebooks come in all shapes and sizes, but essentially, my interactive notebook is a composition notebook where students can organize their notes. All of our notes, readings and activities go in these notebooks and are used all year. These notebooks become a reference tool for the remainder of the year, giving students the ability to quickly look up a term, concept or idea as they work on more advanced literature and concepts.

This notebook serves as a survival guide for their AP Exam and teaches the much needed note taking skills for college!

All the materials in this project are being used to help keep their notebooks intact and organized.
