This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from all over the world. We have a diverse student population from several countries around the world. The one thing these kids all have in common is that they come to our school and are learning English.
My students are eager learners who are ready to absorb any information they are taught.
These kids often times come in significantly lower compared to their native English speaking peers. These students come in ready to learn and often times are able to catch up to their native English speaking peers quickly.
My Project
In my classroom, students spend the majority of their day in smaller learning groups. They spend time at their table spots to complete their work and the rotate in centers for math and reading. These students need a way to keep their learning materials organized.
The students will utilize their chair pockets for the things they need to keep at their seat for learning such as their writing dictionaries, folders and notebooks.
As the students sit at tables, the tables lack a space for students to store their materials. The chair pockets will give students a place to keep their materials organized.
My students will use their book boxes for traveling to their centers. My students go to a variety of interactive centers that require specific items for them to keep on hand, such as guided reading books, response journals and folders. Giving them access to a book box gives them a place to keep their materials organized without having to run back and forth to their seat during centers.
