My students come from all over the world, from different families and financial backgrounds, but they have one thing in common. They all LOVE learning! Our school is at the edge of a rural city a block from the beach, and it serves a diverse group of children from 23 different countries. Of my 17 students, 12 are English Language Learners, and more than half receive free or reduced price lunch.
My class is a vibrant group of learners who are excited by project-based learning activities, love to create, explore, and manipulate, and love to share their learning with others.
They are engineers, architects, problem-solvers, team players, makers, creators, and hands-on learners. They are energetic, silly, and extremely active children who love to get up and move. They make me excited to come to work each day!
My Project
In my classroom, students are at the center of everything we do. My instruction is student centered and I design my lessons with each of them in mind. My classroom is set up with my students in mind as well. We are in need of storage containers to organize our small group and individual learning task cards and manipulatives. They are currently in zip lock bags that make each activity difficult to find. Students use these task cards to work on standards at their own pace and their own level.
Having our resources neat and organized will help my students be self-directed and will keep our tools in good shape for future classes to come!
The color coded storage containers would make it easy for students to find the resources that are on their level without a teacher helping. Students will be able to work on their own and at their own pacing! The drying rack will help us organize our art work when we are working on it. Currently, we have to complete work in one sitting because we have no where to set it aside.
