One challenge of being a teacher is quite simple: STUFF! Pencils and headphones are necessities that can be quite a challenge to both students and teachers! Students often struggle to keep track of pencils. Some students will even munch on them. Lead gets broken. Erasers get chewed. And, pencils become a very disposable toy rather than a useful tool. Headphones can easily get lost or broken. Drawstring bags hanging from hooks at students' desks might be just the answer for better organization.
When students learn simple organization skills, they will develop strong habits that will last them a lifetime!
I'm very excited to try something new. I want to give my students a unique pencil/pencil topper to use.
I had a student who struggled with keeping track of things at the beginning of the year. I let him choose a special pencil and fidget topper. We are over halfway through the school year. Guess who still has his pencil? If this simple strategy worked for him, maybe it could work for an entire class. This project will help me find out!
By adding a couple of fun books about organization, I will integrate Language Arts into organizational skills. What kid doesn't enjoy a fun book? Thanks to Donors Choose, I have a very colorful and inviting classroom. These supplies would add to the magic that I make happen.
