Organization and Routine: Students With Disabilities' Learning Stations
Help me give my students with disabilities a home for their art supplies and task boxes to encourage organization, routine, responsibility, independence, and limitless learning!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My kindergarten through fifth-grade students with disabilities love learning! They experience challenges, still conquering COVID-19, living in impoverished areas, and personal hardships above their respective disabilities. When learning, workstations and hands-on activities are most beneficial. They offer the most differentiated and adaptable instruction practices as students work both independently and with peers. When it comes to the arts, we cover a multitude of multi-faceted lessons; including visual arts, music, STEAM, and any other form of arts you can imagine. Exposing my students to a variety of arts, as much as possible, is ideal. They need the exposure to find their niche and we need supplies to achieve success. However, art supplies can become easily messy and disorganized! This can limit learning from happening.
Organization is key to student success and for endless learning to truly occur.
We need more Sterilite and Iris Drawers to organize my materials, task boxes, and learning stations. The requested drawers are strong enough to stand the length of time! They will provide continuous organization so that even our students can learn to independently keep neat when completing learning station tasks. They are perfect for housing construction paper, arts journals, small group instruction, and independent station tasks; as well as lesson-specific materials. Once our learning station materials are organized, instruction will run much more smoothly. I will not have to stop my lesson to find materials, as they will have a true home!
