My students need a laptop stand, index cards, labels, loose leaf and other paper to complete day to day assignments. The index cards are for personalized goals, loose leaf paper for publishing, and labels for math problems.
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. My students are all different types of learners and have various backgrounds. I have students who do not speak English, students with disabilities, and some students who are homeless.
I teach at a Title I school in the Bronx, New York where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of my students receive food and clothing from the school's charity drives. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.
My Project
My students need supplies to get them organized and motivated about their learning in all subjects. These basic classroom supplies will make sure that the students are held to the highest standard and meeting appropriate goals they will, in turn, motivate them to achieve more.
The students do so much writing, that we are always running out of loose leaf paper; I want the students to be encouraged to write across as many pages as their ideas will go!
The index cards will be to give each student a personalized goal for each subject and to monitor if they are on track to meeting their goals. The students need labels for their math problem-solving block, in which they focus on solving a rigorous problem affixed to their notebook on a label. The students need graph paper for creating graphs and geometry. The file folders help the students keep a neat portfolio of all their assessments throughout the year that they can refer to for motivation as the school year progresses.
Finally, the laptop stand will allow me to move around the classroom easily as I help students and collect data to differentiate instruction. This differentiated instruction will help the students achieve their goals faster because they are getting targeted instruction based on my data collection.
