I teach Kindergarten-5th grade music in a Title 1 school in Bibb County, Georgia. My students are creative, young musicians. My students have a variety of abilities, because I teach students in the main stream or gifted classes; students in inclusive classes; and students in access special ed. My students love to play instruments, play games, and sing together.
My Project
So far this year, students have been extremely limited with playing instruments due to the impact of Covid-19 virus. Having a wide variety of Orff instruments will enable more students to be able to play instruments than before with our limited quantity.
Students can play these instruments to accompany songs, games, or other instruments.
Playing instruments as a large group will knit us closer to one another as a classroom family. Playing Orff instruments will also help us maximize instruction, especially after a year when the content and standards were so drastically reduced.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
