My Students

Hello! My Baltimore city music classes are filled with students with lots of potential. All we need are quality instruments to take us to the next level!

I love my music students!

They are smart and eager to learn. They listen well and are excited about learning. They can read, write, and perform music. The one thing that is holding us back is good performance instruments. Baltimore City has limited funds for the arts unlike suburban schools. My glee club has performed for many functions in Baltimore city. We have received accolades for our performances. I have received an award for excellence in teaching from Baltimore City Public Schools as a response for involving my glee club in every opportunity. We want to take our music program to the next level. The glee club is accompanied with djembes I have brought back from Ghana. We have used our small glockenspiels to accompany our performances. But I believe our program would be better enhanced with beautiful sounding Orff xylophones for our world music songs. Also, I would like to start an after school Orff Ensemble since we have so many talented students.

My Project

My Baltimore City glee club and general music students will perform a varied repertoire of World Music with their new Orff instruments. They will be inspired to deepen their musical skills with beautiful sounding instruments. They will connect with the community by performing concerts at least three times a school year with their wonderful new instruments. We need a starter Orff instrument kit to launch our Orff program. Being part of an ensemble teaches students not only to read, write, and perform but also to interact cooperatively and to be proud of their efforts. A students self esteem develops in a positive way when participating in a performance ensemble. Students develop leadership skills and listening skills needed to be successful in all their lives.

Donating to this project will build students enthusiasm for reading, writing, and performing music.

Music literacy is every music teachers goal and success is guaranteed when quality instruments are provided in conjunction with willing students and excellent teaching skills. More students will want to join the musical ensembles where these instruments are used and this can make such a wonderful difference in a child's life. Self esteem and musical skills are increased through participation.
