Help me give my students the basics: pencils, glue sticks, colored paper, an electric sharpener, and more! It's time to restock our shared classroom supplies in preparation for a service learning unit designing murals.
Have you ever wondered what it's like to teach in a premier neighborhood Chicago Public High School full of diverse, inquisitive and delightful young people? Let me tell you, it's wonderful!
I look forward to school each day because my students are among the kindest teenagers I've ever taught.
Most of my students seek opportunities to take art classes as a way to balance their rigorous daily schedule and my department works tirelessly to promote creative problem solving through relevant and engaging curriculum. I wrote this project to restock some of our art room staples.
My Project
My art students share our basic daily supplies: pencils, glue sticks, sharpeners, staplers, and paper. It's amazing how quickly they get depleted with approximately 170 students using them daily.
With your help, my students will be productive 100% of the time on our upcoming mural project!
No more, "But Mrs. Trejo, I don't have a pencil..." or "I'm sharing a glue stick and it's not my turn!" As I prepare for a special mural project with each of my classes, the requested supplies will enable me to stock their work stations for our brainstorming and layout sessions.
I look forward to happily distributing table bins with enough materials for each student to work continuously through our upcoming service learning/mural unit. I'm asking for your help in restocking our art room with #2 and 4H pencils, glue sticks, an electric pencil sharpener, staplers, colored copier paper, and transparency sheets. The importance of basic daily supplies is sometimes underrated but they will help us yield extraordinary results in our upcoming murals.
