My Students

All of my students have their own special story to tell coming from diverse backgrounds with unique strengths and weaknesses. They are all active members of our close-knit, rural Title I school. We are a small school with big dreams and even bigger hearts. With a strong focus on literacy in grades K-2, my third graders come to my class ready to dive into my math and science lessons. I strive to incorporate fun, interactive lessons and activities that appeal to all learning types and keep my students engaged.

While my students may face hardships, they come to school eager to learn and are excited about their futures.

They are an amazing group of kids who love each other, their families, their school, and the world around them. I want to give them the best 3rd-grade​ experience possible. I want to fill their days with happiness and their brains with smarts that they will carry with them years after they leave my classroom.

My Project

Engaged students are learning students! During our study of fractions, I plan to transform my room into a pizza parlor. Students will walk in to find checkered tablecloths on the tables and chef hats and aprons waiting on them. Each child will receive a pizza box to create his own construction paper pizza in. The students will record what fraction of their pizza has pepperoni, mushrooms, sausage, and peppers. Later on I'll splurge on pizza for the whole class.

Also while studying fractions, students will be engaged as they use Hershey chocolate bars to learn about fractional parts.

Although learning about fractions is always challenging for 3rd graders, engaging lessons help my third graders become fraction masters.
