These students have started an orchestra program last year which is the first time the orchestra has been in the high school in sixty-nine years. These students are dedicated and excited to get going on a brand new orchestra program.
So far, we consist of violins and cellos.
We will eventually get to be including bass instruments and violas. We may even incorporate percussion into the orchestra program. These students practice all the time. They are always willing to work with each other and with me.
The orchestra program currently has no music available. We need to order music written for string instruments. So far, we have been using choir music or public domain music which isn't suiting my group adequately.
This piece of music is Robin Hood and Little John from the Disney movie Robin Hood.
This will be an interesting piece of music that will catch the students' attention, but also be musically challenging for a range of players. These students need a good challenge but they all play at different skill levels. With this lovely piece, I hope to make sure these students get the change to play something that fits their playing ability.
