This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We all learn in different ways and there are multiple forms of intelligence. In the special education classroom, it is imperative that you teach the same lesson in multiple formats. Unfortunately, limited supplies do not allow me to engage my students to the extent they deserve.

My global students are in a self-contained classroom, meaning they have the most severe learning needs in the public school system.

The majority of my students are English Language Learners. They are struggling financially and come from neighborhoods full of crime and gang activity. They are high school students and they are preparing themselves to enter the world as young adults. Our school is a safe zone, full of caring individuals who treat our student body as family. Unfortunately, due to a lack of funding, our ability to purchase materials has been cut tremendously. My students are visual and oral learners and deserve a classroom that supports their needs. Learning Global History and preparing for a Regents exam can be very difficult for a teenager. With the proper supplies, the classroom could be transformed into a learning environment that would excite my students and empower them to take pride in their education!

My Project

With the proper resources, my students' lives will be changed for the better. I have requested two audio recording devices, a set of Ancient History books and scratch paper for interactive projects. My students have a wide range of abilities and struggle with comprehension and retention of information on a daily basis. My students are given a lot of material to process, and with a variety of disorders, at times this is a very difficult task. I would like to provide my students with an interactive way to learn, to ensure that they retain information, learn content in a variety of formats, and most of all-enjoy the process of learning. We are currently studying Ancient Africa and the students are learning that history was passed down orally. We would like to create an interactive project where students voice record themselves with audio recorders and are able to play back the information. This project is interactive and will definitely assist with my high needs population of students!

This project will make a broad impact on my students for the remainder of this year and for years to come.

Students are empowered when they are given supplies and when they are able to take what they learned and share it with others. With audio recorders and the proper books and materials, you are ensuring the success of my students!
