This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are a small but mighty group of readers, writers, mathematicians, activists, and engineers. Our conversations around topics are lengthy because of their curiosity. And they help each other in every capacity they can to ensure everyone feels welcomed in our classroom.
My students will use these books as mentor texts to help guide their opinion writing throughout our month in this genre of writing.
This helps them see modeled opinion writing and the opportunity to try something similar in their own writing. I can't wait to use these books in writing lessons to help them link their learning to something tangible that they can use as a reference.
