Spring is when I begin thinking about the fall and NEXT school year! Students and I talk about what went well this year and what needs to be tweaked. So now is the perfect time to plan school year 24/25!
What went well: Inspirational quotes and designs to color for my more artsy students.
These supplies and activities worked wonders on creative minds and soothing anxiety at the same time. Gifted & Talented (GT) students need outlets to be creative while burning off anxious energy. But, I am adding the DNA book for my more science-oriented students to flourish as well!
Chess is a favorite! When I first started with GT, I bought a few sets myself. They were inexpensive and have been very well used to where the boards are falling apart. These new sets are more solidly made with options of Backgammon (great thinking game) and checkers not to mention self-storage. A much needed replacement and improvement for the future.
Dance Party 30 second break is an excellent quick brain break and much needed movement choice. We all need a brain break occasionally. Working this skill into my students work-day teaches them to take that break time but then how to refocus.
The games are sneaky ways to allow them to "play" but use important thinking skills and problem solving strategies. Students think of it at free time; I provide choices that will also develop their minds in the process.
