My Students

My 9th-12th graders come into the library for all kinds of reasons. Some can't wait to check out that next Percy Jackson book in the series, some want a quiet place to study, and others are just looking for an adult to take some interest in them and the things they care about.

This is the second year these kids have had a librarian of any kind, so they don’t have much experience of their library as anything more than a storage room.

They are just starting to discover that it can be an exciting place with endless possibilities.

My students love making decals and bulletin boards highlighting their favorite books. They are creative makers, but they are lacking in resources and tools to push our dated library to become a more welcoming space for this generation.

My Project

My students and I have discovered a love for vinyl! The students have made so many amazing projects that we are now running low. I hope that with your donations, we can supply them with not only a lot more of the standard, versatile vinyl, but the iron-on and printable varieties, too. I've also included metallic poster board and craft board to help spark some new ideas.

I'm so excited to keep the momentum going for these kids as they discover what they're capable of.

Some of them are growing in confidence and skills. Others are seeing the entrepreneurial possibilities. Some are finding a sense of belonging in the library. The addition of more and new materials can only help spread that positivity throughout the school.
