This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I love my students because they are very engaged and they are my first set of students that are really strong leaders. This year's set of students are primarily male and they are a fun loving, active, energetic, caring group of children. I laugh with them constantly. I am really excited about educating them this year. I love the fact that they ask questions consistently! I also appreciate their strong sense of direction.
As an educator I want to be able to do all that is within my power to get them the resources that they will need this year to succeed.
I talked with them yesterday about taking notes and today the majority of them started taking notes today. I appreciate their willingness to learn and adjust to new ideas.
My Project
The Jennifrer Serravallo 4th grade library will be used to build a habit of reading. Studies have shown that children that are exposed to language have greater vocabularies than children that do not read. The Jennifer Serravallo reading library would expose the children to an in-class library in order to assist them with becoming fluent English speakers and readers. I would like to give them the opportunity to touch books and see them as a part of a learning environment.
I would like for them to also read once they complete their daily tasks, without leaving my classroom, on a daily basis.
