My students need several paintbrushes, aprons, a variety of different colors of paint and a camera to document the entire process to provide a fun filled learning environment for all students with various disabilities.
I teach in a Title 1 school where students with special needs vary from mild to severe. My students have great attendance and come into class everyday ready to give their all despite their disabilities. Their strong will to reach their own individualized goals is seen in the daily strides they make. My students have faced hardships in being placed in foster care to living in shelters. I want them to know this classroom is a fun and loving environment.
My Project
My students need games and activities that focus on identifying shapes, numbers, sequencing, analytical thinking and reinforcing those strategies taught daily in the classroom which will also include fostering positive peer to peer interactions during such activities. These activities will be created by students using aprons, stencils to create the shapes needed to be painted onto the table top. This will allow students to explore and practice repetitiously skills needed both in the classroom and in the real world.
Your generous donation will allow our students to have access to paintbrushes and paint to create these activities onto table tops while using a camera to document the process to create a portfolio of their project.
