Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a darling class of highly diverse kindergarten students in a low-income, Title I school. One of the skills they develop in kindergarten is learning to read.
Every student deserves the right to read.
These students have a great desire to learn to read, which will help will help to open many doors for them. It is so fun to watch them get excited as they learn these necessary skills, and develop confidence in themselves and their abilities to read.
My Project
Help me give my students the chance to work in small groups at their own reading level. Students will use decodable readers, which target different reading skills and abilities, based on their individual needs.
Students deserve the abilities and skills to be good readers.
These books use scientific methods which help kids learn to read, instead of guessing or using other coping mechanisms.
Being able to work in small groups will help me target specific skills students are struggling with. Having these resource gives students the ability to have their own book while reading, no matter what level they are at.
