You know those students that dread coming to school for one reason or another? Maybe they think it's boring, or they're unmotivated to learn, or they're simply uninterested? The ones that count down the minutes to the end of the day or the days to the next break?
Well, that isn't my kids.
They love coming to school, they crave and celebrate new learning, and they are interested- in everything! My kids cheered when I told them we were moving on to subtraction from addition. They scoured the library for information on their reading projects and shared information excitedly with one another. When I told them we were publishing our own non-fiction books, my kids spent their entire lunch brainstorming different illustrations and sequences.
Not only do they love school, but they love each other. They are kind, hardworking, and smart. They are the absolute best!
My Project
Often during the cold winter months my first graders are stuck inside for indoor recess. I want to be able to provide them with age appropriate games like Connect 4, UNO, Chutes and Ladders, and even puzzles to extend their learning experiences! Not only will they practice counting skills and cause/effect, but they will be able to problem solve for successful strategies and work as a team!
Screen time during indoor recess is often unproductive and a brain drain!
By playing board games with their peers, my students will be able to have indoor recess experiences that are meaningful, productive, and fun!
