In our middle school ELA classrooms, we believe every student deserves the tools and environment needed to thrive as readers, writers, and thinkers. Empowering young scholars to become critical thinkers who take agency in their own learning is critical to building the confidence and vision necessary to develop their goals to achieve success in the classroom and beyond. My goal for this project is to create a well-organized, student-centered space that fosters collaborative learning and empowers students to grow and hone their literacy skills through meaningful, small-group instruction.
These items will help organize and structure our ELA classroom to ease the facilitation of small groups so students can learn cooperatively with one another, monitoring their own progress, and building communication and teamwork skills as they explore texts and discuss concepts.
The flexible seating options, table, and organizational supplies will help foster these interactions.
With your help, we can transform our classroom into a thriving hub of collaboration and discovery. By organizing materials and creating designated spaces for small group work, students will have more opportunities to engage in cooperative learning. These structured small groups will allow me to provide personalized instruction, target specific needs, and help students develop independence in their learning.
