Help me give my students exposure to diverse literature (core lit books) so they can have a love for reading and practice their critical thinking skills.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project will provide my kindergarten students with access to a variety of books, exposing them to different cultures, perspectives, and ideas. Diverse literature will spark their imagination, build vocabulary, and develop critical thinking skills, setting a strong foundation for academic success and a lifelong love of reading.
In our kindergarten classroom, these books will become an essential part of our daily routine.
During read-aloud sessions, students will engage with stories that reflect diverse cultures, experiences, and perspectives, sparking meaningful discussions and building empathy. In our literacy centers, students will explore these books independently and in small groups, developing their reading and comprehension skills. We’ll also use these stories as inspiration for creative activities, such as drawing, writing, and dramatic play. By integrating these books into our lessons, I aim to create a rich, inclusive learning environment where every child feels seen, valued, and excited to learn.
