Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the pleasure of teaching wonderful bilingual students who are learning both Spanish and English (Dual language program). I work with students who are immigrants from Mexico, Honduras, San Salvador, or Guatemala, as well as students who were born in the United States.

Most of my students come with limited educational opportunities.

They enjoy reading and being part of a learning community. Given the opportunity, all of my students can strive to be the best learner they can be.

My Project

We are a community of readers who are in need of bilingual books that my students are interested in. During Independent reading time, my students are allowed to choose books that interests them to read. Our classroom library is in need of bilingual books so that my students can continue to grow as culturally diverse readers.

These books will help my students identify themselves as readers!

Many of the books I selected are special requests from them. It is important for my students to use reading as a tool to understand and connect to the real world and how it impacts the world around them.
