My Students

My students are from a small city and they are awesome! They work hard and try their best. Many of them are self-motivated to learn Spanish. Most of them try their best to do anything I ask of them. They balance academics and home life, jobs, and personal issues, and I want amazing things for them. My students come from a variety of backgrounds; a mix of socio-economic, ethnic, and racial backgrounds.

My students work so hard in the classroom and they deserve everything they need to be successful.

My students live in a smaller community and many of them don't have the opportunity to travel outside of the United States; therefore, I take my responsibilities to open their minds to a global society very seriously.

My Project

To encourage and promote literacy in my Spanish classroom, I am working to build a complete classroom library of accessible Spanish readers. I intend to have students read every day in Spanish. This will increase not only their literacy in Spanish but their literacy in other classes and improve their understanding and tolerance of the global society in which we live.

The ability to read and to enjoy reading is a skill that all students must-have for success in education.

No longer do students just conjugate verbs or memorize vocabulary; we want them to do so much more than that. Having students read fun and engaging books in Spanish will encourage them to read, will inspire them to continue to read, and will promote cross-curricular literacy.
