Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At my school, we have started a new Dual Language program. My partner and I started in kindergarten last year and then this year we opened up a first grade classroom. Next year we will open up a second grade classroom. This class is special because they are Long Beach's vision 2035.

This will make a difference in my students' learning because they will have a rug to sit, learn, collaborate, and build projects.

They’ll also be able to learn by having a flip chart easel and chart paper which I can just turn the page and students can easily view their current and past learning. They’ll also have pencil boxes to keep their materials organized.

This class is special because as I’ve mentioned before they are my district's portrait of vision 2035 which is something our district is currently hard at work in preparing our students to be globally prepared in being well-rounded citizens who will be advocates in their community for themselves and others. This class is also special because they are the true pioneers of this dual language program as they are the first class who started the dual language program. We are also a Title I school where lots of our students live in poverty and school is the only place where they have access to decent meals and education.
