Opening Minds Through Inclusive Stories

My Project

My students are an incredible group of 20 curious, compassionate learners who love getting lost in a good story. They are eager to explore new perspectives and dive into meaningful conversations. When we gather for our novel studies, their excitement is contagious — they truly enjoy discussing characters, choices, and life lessons that unfold in the pages of a book. I know that with the right tools and stories, they will rise to the challenge of thinking deeply and caring even more deeply about the world around them.

The books I’m requesting feature protagonists with disabilities and will be the heart of our novel studies.

These stories will help us build empathy, spark important conversations, and create a classroom culture that values inclusion and understanding. Alongside these novels, the notebooks will help us stay organized and thoughtful, as we use them to track our reflections, questions, and growing insights. My goal is to build powerful novel study experiences that not only keep my students engaged but also inspire them to see the world through different lenses. With your support, we can create a reading community that values every story and every voice.
