Help me give my students Chromebooks to become better prepared for future careers. They will provide the most cost effective opportunity for my students to experience the benefits of the technology.
My students inspire me every day with their work ethic and willingness to strive for their goals. Even though many of them are in low income households, they are eager to learn and excited about the world around them. They are compassionate, kind and truly care about others. These amazing young people want to learn about other cultures, share ideas and collaborate with students from around the globe.
We are a Title I school that strives to provide the best possible learning environment with what we have available.
Our school is in a rural area that lacks the economic support and funding of larger metropolitan areas. This places my students at a great disadvantage technologically.
Each of these students has the ability to change the world. With your help, we can provide a platform for them to share their talents and ideas beyond the four walls of the classroom.
My Project
These Chromebooks will provide my students with the technology to access the web with all its many resources and help prepare for their future at the same time. Nearly any career they enter will involve technology and putting Chromebooks in their hands now is just a plus for them.
Studies have shown that students actually stay more engaged, develop higher-order skills of critical thinking, analysis, and scientific inquiry with Chromebooks.
The Chromebooks lead to more engagement, participation, and interaction by students both within and outside the classroom, and the world . I will be able to put the tools in their hands to widen their view of the world. There are endless ways to combine literature and technology. The students can travel back in time to actually see how the world looked during the time period of a story or novel, or visit the setting of their reading. Many of our students have never traveled further than a small surrounding town. Instead of trying to visualize New York City or London, they can actually see the places and explore via their Chromebook. They can also build vocabulary, do research, play educational games. The list is endless and still expanding every day.
Many of our students lost their home, or possessions, or were displaced for months. These Chromebooks can help them see what disasters other people have gone thru and how they coped with loss and recovery. I want my students to learn life lessons and resillance for their future. I want to start with five Chromebooks and grow to a class set.
