This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are incredibly unique, each with their strengths, interests, and backgrounds. Some are ELL, and others come from families who may not have the resources to build their home libraries. Despite their challenges, my students are kind, hardworking, and always willing to try their best. I adore the curiosity, energy, and resilience that my Transitional Kindergarten students bring to class daily. Each child is at a crucial point in their early learning journey, and they come into the classroom eager to explore new ideas and make sense of the world around them. They are natural problem solvers, full of questions, and each day they amaze me with how quickly they absorb new information and skills. Even though they’re just starting their educational journey, I see the beginnings of a love for learning that will carry them far.
The books I'm requesting will make a tremendous difference in their learning by providing them with engaging, age-appropriate stories that will help build their vocabulary, comprehension, and early literacy skills.
Reading together as a class will not only improve their listening and focus skills but will also foster a love of reading that can last a lifetime.
My primary goal is to create a classroom environment where every student feels excited and confident in their ability to learn. By giving them access to a variety of books, I want to foster their natural curiosity and make learning to read a fun, interactive experience. I also want to ensure that every child has access to stories that reflect their lives, their families, and their dreams. This project will help them build foundational reading skills that they will carry with them throughout their academic careers and beyond.
