Help me give my students book bins that will keep our classroom library more accessible to them!

My Students

I believe creating a safe, comfortable, and open ended learning environment is key to the success of all children. I work very hard each day to reach the needs of my students. Most of my students come from low to middle income homes and with cuts to funding there is not money in our budgets for anything outside of basic supplies.

My students are all unique, talented, and have multifaceted interests and abilities.

Students today need choice, including the ability to choose their own learning path to some degree. No two students are the same, nor do I expect them to be excited about the same learning opportunities at all times. I do believe all will benefit from exploration and variety and I am excited to see their increased participation and growth in their lifelong learning journeys. Students will be more attentive when given the choice to engage in learning activities through multiple opportunities and avenues.

My Project

I have a very print rich classroom. My classroom library consists of hundreds of fiction and nonfiction books. I pride myself in making sure my students have books available in nearly every genre and interest subject. I want students to love reading and crave books each day they are in my classroom (and at home!)

With these book bins, my students will have better access to the books they crave in my classroom.

I want them to have a clear, organized way of choosing books and putting them back where they belong. My current library is a mess with baskets that aren't strong enough to hold all of my books.

I am so excited to give my students easier access to books each day- my students will benefit from having a neat, organized book library in our classroom.
