My Students
What better way to learn about the world around you than through reading.
My classroom is filled with 26 sweet kindergarten faces eager to learn about the world around them.
Unfortunately, my students live in a small, high poverty community. Many of them lack personal libraries at home and knowledge of the bigger world outside of their small town.
My Project
We need science and social studies audio books for our listening center. My students will greatly benefit from having a non-fiction listening center library in our classroom. A non-fiction listening center library will help increase their knowledge about the world around them through great literature. These stories will teach them about important historical figures and science concepts within the new common core standards.
Developing a love for reading is essential at such a young age and more easily done through meaningful literature.
Exposing children to the non-fiction world around them is a necessity that opens their minds up to endless possibilities for the rest of their lives.
