First grade is an exciting year! Students are growing as readers, writers, and mathematicians every day. They are learning to work collaboratively, problem-solve, and building independence. My goal is to create a classroom environment where all students feel safe and respected.
Over 25% of the students at my school are military connected.
This means that we have students moving in and out of our school all the time. We are proud of our military families and aim to make our school feel like home.
My school works hard to ensure that all students' needs are met, both academically, emotionally, and socially.
My Project
My students are currently learning about the world by reading non-fiction books. Students are learning about different animals, places, and professions! Students are always excited to learn new and exciting facts about topics of interest.
My students LOVE animals, vehicles, and dinosaurs!
I would love to be able to provide them with high interest books about these topics to boost their engagement during independent reading time!
My students would be thrilled to bookshop in our classroom library filled with books about trains, dinosaurs, sea creatures, trucks, cars, tractors, first responders, horses, cows, sheep, and dogs! I know that it would increase their engagement in independent reading. The best way to become a reader is to READ, READ, READ!
