My Project

Hello, I'm seeking funding to create an unforgettable science experience for the 800 students who rotate into my STEM classroom.

I want to engage students critical thinking, hypothesizing and collaborating skills using a project involving oobleck, a non-Newtonian fluid that acts as both a liquid and a solid.

This simple mixture of water and cornstarch will allow students to explore scientific concepts hands-on, fostering a deep, intuitive understanding of states of matter and the principles of physics in a fun and engaging way.

For 800 students, we estimate the need for:

Cornstarch: Approximately 6 five gallon buckets of cornstarch

Containers: One per each student so they can take home.

This project will not only enrich the science curriculum but also provide a hands-on learning experience that caters to diverse learning styles. By directly engaging with the materials, students are more likely to grasp complex concepts and retain information longer. Additionally, working in groups will enhance their teamwork and communication skills, crucial competencies in today's collaborative world.

Ms. Barker will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by August 10.
