Onomatopoeia is a word or a grouping of words that imitates the sound it is describing. Our learning center is in need of tools to bring this concept to life in a simple, meaningful yet penetrating way. Sounds are one of the first things early education students identify with. And
onomatopoeia is a fun way to introduce them to the merging of language and receptive hearing.
I am a teacher at a large, urban elementary school in the Bronx, New York. I teach pre-kindergarten to 18 young children. The children are for the most part from low-income households and their families usually do not have extra money available to buy educational materials for their children or enroll them in extra-curricular activities.
A big book of learning songs would used for language development. The big book is engaging and makes learning good habits fun. The big book format makes it easy for the whole class to see and follow along. The songs are set to familiar children's tunes all covering essential skills like sharing, cleaning up, washing hands and more. The Miss Rabbit puppet is a friendly way to introduce simple songs. The songs have familiar rhythms to accompany with the Boomwhackers and fun to sing songs.
The Ocean Animals theme box would also be used for language development. The kit comes with books about the ocean and props. The kit also comes with songs about the ocean and different learning activities.
I feel it is my responsibility to ensure that these children receive the very best education and are exposed to a rich array of learning activities. I am requesting materials that will help the children in language development.
I believe it will enhance my students' performance in listening skills, reading comprehension, and help build critical thinking skills. Children learn best through experiences that are integrated and multi-sensory. These experiences will enhance their cognitive, social, emotional and language skills.
Thank you for caring enough about the education of children to read my proposal.
