Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students will be starting this school year online. Last year, they made the abrupt switch from seeing their teacher and friends daily to remote learning from their homes. Having high interest materials that can be used on a digital platform can help students stay engaged.
Growing up in South Central Los Angeles, in a primarily working class, inner-city neighborhood, my students are not accustomed to spending so much time online.
Also, coming from families where parents may be working multiple jobs and struggling to meet everyday needs, my students may need to complete and turn in their online assignments on their own.
High interest materials will help my students stay motivated, persist, and complete their assignments.
My Project
Bitmoji classrooms that help students imagine that they are still in a classroom, google forms that give immediate feedback when completed, google slide projects that give students the opportunity to use images and text to express their learning—these are materials that are available on Teachers Pay Teachers.
The $100 Teachers Pay Teachers Gift Card would help me purchase engaging materials that have been created to be shared online.
Engaging materials lead to engaged students. I want to provide high interest materials to my students to help them get the most out of their online learning experience this year.
