This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"The things I want to know are in books. My best friend is the man who'll get me a book I [haven't] read."
— Abraham Lincoln
I want my students to have a variety of books they can enjoy during their reading time at school.
I am extremely honored to be the teacher of a group of second graders who are full of curiosity, energy, and have a great desire to learn and have new experiences.
Our school is located in a high-crime and poor in resources neighborhood in South Los Angeles where places with opportunities for learning are scarce or simply not available. Our school is also a Title I school, which means most of our students qualify for free lunch.
My Project
With the recent implementation of the Common Core standards, the demands for rich literature to support different reading skills is simply necessary. A library rich in literature will contribute to the academic success to each and every one of my students. They will be able to read interesting and relevant books that support common core reading standards. I will also be able to immerse them in books that will prepare them for many learning experiences now and in the future.
Your donation of these amazing books will greatly impact the present and future success of my students not only in reading and other academic areas.
My students will be exposed to literature that matters. Will you be a friend that helps my students fall in love with books and become life-long readers?
