This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is a Title I school. My students receive free breakfast, lunch, and snack. Although teachers strive to give our students the best education possible, we fall short because of the lack of materials needed in order to keep our students engaged.
My students come to school eager to learn but aren't always prepared due to their financial circumstances.
They love learning through hands on lessons and activities. My goal each year is to create a safe, fun, and loving learning environment in order for each student to achieve success.
The unknown of the upcoming school year, has left me up at night trying to think of how and what I can do to make this school year successful. I want to make sure I am prepared for instruction both online and in the classroom. Now that I feel like I have a much better handle on distance learning, I know there are some materials my students and I could use in order to make learning more rigorous, fun, and engaging!
My Project
While my school has yet to make a decision about whether we will be in the classroom, teaching from home, or a mix of both, it is my responsibility to make sure I am prepared for all scenarios.
The document camera will allow to me to model work to students in real time during our live meetings.
Distance learning was a struggle in March because I felt like I was not able to successfully reach all my learners. With the camera, they will be able to see clearly any work I display, therefore together we will be able to practice necessary skills. It will especially help with modeling math problems!
The pocket charts will allow me to set up my space at home to resemble our real classroom and display information. The printer will allow to me to print a copy of any work that is done online to give to those students who do not have access to a computer and or WIFI in the event that learning has gone 100% remote. There are so many unknowns for everyone right now and all I want to do is make this school year as successful, engaging, and fun as I can!
