Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are trying to make our garden area beautiful and add new items to it. These children come from low income, single parent or guardian homes. They do not have much to do in our area.
We have started a garden at the school; so they can plant and see that hard work is worth it in the end.
My students are so very excited about this garden. With this project they will be able to plant a fruit bearing tree, and have hoes that they can use to weed around it. The hanging planters will be used to plant flower to show off on our fence.
I am so very proud of my students for working hard and keeping with this garden. We are currently growing corn, onions, radish, and carrots. They also have planted pomegranate trees, blackberries, and sunflowers. This will add to the garden and making our school beautiful.
It is teaching them a long lasting lesson that if you put for effort you will have a good return. They will be able to use the lessons learned from gardening into adulthood.
