My Project
As a high school history teacher at TCS on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico, I continually seek ways to grow professionally so that I can better meet the needs of my students. Our students deserve lessons that reflect their identities, honor their histories, and equip them with skills for the future. To do this effectively, I require access to the latest digital tools that enable me to engage in meaningful professional development and curriculum design.
This MacBook will allow me to participate in online trainings, webinars, and virtual conferences focused on culturally responsive teaching, Indigenous education, and digital learning.
It will also give me the ability to collaborate with other educators and leaders across the country, sharing and learning best practices to bring back to my classroom. I will use this technology to create multimedia presentations, record instructional videos, and design standards-aligned lessons that connect history content with the lived experiences of my students.
Professionally, this MacBook will help me stay organized, document my progress, and reflect on ways to improve my instructional strategies. I will be able to build more inclusive and interactive content using applications that enhance visual learning and storytelling—two powerful tools for Diné students.
My students will benefit directly from my growth. They will have access to more engaging, relevant, and personalized learning experiences. I’ll also be able to support students with diverse learning needs by offering alternative assignments and resources that cater to their individual needs. This investment in my professional growth will not only strengthen my teaching but will also inspire my students to embrace their culture, value education, and become leaders in their communities. All it takes is one teacher, one MacBook, and many students inspired.
